Hollowed out tray

 

 
  1. Use the arrow keys to manipulate the tray so that the compartments are now underneath.
  2. Tip: press the spacebar and use the mouse to manipulate the tray, press the bar one more time to end manipulation.

  3. Choose Select Faces tool and highlight the top rectangular face.
  4. Select Workplane, Plane of Object and accept the default.
  5. Choose View onto Workplane tool.
  6. Select the Create Rectangle tool and draw a rectangle larger than the tray.
  7. Choose the Extrude Profile [Project Profile button]tool
  8. In the Extrude dialogue box enter 15mm distance, Below the workplane, Subtract material, and Taper set to 0
  9. Select OK
  10. The top of the tray will be removed to reveal the tray with hollowed out compartments.

Cutting the hole out for the cup

  1. Choose the Select Faces tool and highlight the new top face of the tray. Choose Workplane, Plane of Object and accept the default.
  2. Select the View onto Workplane tool.
  3. Select the Create Circle tool and draw a circle on the centre axis.
  4. Choose the Constraint tool and drag out the dimension. Then double click the size and change to 30mm in the properties dialogue box.
  5. Choose the Extrude Profile [Project Profile button]tool
  6. In the Extrude dialogue box enter 20mm distance, Below the workplane, Subtract material, and Taper set to 0
  7. Select OK
  8. A hole will have been cut through the tray to allow for the placing of a cup.
