Adding the wings

  1. Choose the Select Lines [Select Lines button] tool. (This brings up the green workplane arrow.
  2. Right-click, View, Zoom in on the rear of the plane
  3. From the Workplane menu choose Reposition Axes.
  4. Position cross hair on the side of the plane, select to fix the position
  5. From the Assembly menu choose Add Component add WINGA
  6. Right-click the mouse button in the drawing area, choose View, Autoscale

To attach WINGB

The green workplane arrow has to be repositioned facing outwards from below the fuselage
  1. Choose the Select Lines [Select Lines button] tool. (This brings up the green workplane arrow.
  2. Right-click, View, Zoom in on the rear of the plane
  3. From the Workplane menu choose Transform Axis and then Rotate enter 270 degrees.
  4. From the Workplane menu choose Reposition Axes.
  5. Position cross hair on the side of the plane, select to fix the position
  6. From the Assembly menu choose Add Component add WINGB
  7. Right-click the mouse button in the drawing area, choose View, Autoscale

Adding the TAILFIN

  1. The green workplane arrow has to be repositioned facing outwards from below the fuselage
  2. Components added so far have been on the horizontal plane. The tailfin is added to the vertical plane. This requires the move to a different workplane. Read the instructions carefully!
  3. From the View menu choose Front Elevation
  4. View, Autoscale (if necessary)
  5. Choose the Select Workplanes [Select Workplanes button] tool
  6. Right click the mouse button in the drawing area and choose View then Zoom in to see in detail the joint between nosecone and fuselage. The workplanes are visible as a small square grid.
  7. Select the outside edge of the square. (The line turns blue and then red when selected.)
  8. From the Workplane menu choose New Sketch.
  9. Select OK (to accept the default name)
  10. View, Autoscale.
  11. Choose the Select Lines [Select Lines button] tool. (The green workplane arrow will be shown at the front of the aeroplane. This has to be moved to the rear of the fuselage, where the tail fin is to be positioned.)
  12. Right-click, View, Zoom in on the rear of the plane
  13. From the Workplane menu choose Reposition Axes.
  14. Move the cross hair to the point where the tailfin will start and fix the position
  15. From the Assembly menu choose Add Component add TAILFIN
  16. Right-click the mouse button in the drawing area, choose View, Autoscale
  17. View, Isometric.
  18. View, Shaded.
  19. From the File menu choose Save and name the design as AEROPLANE ASSEMBLY.
  20. From the Workplane menu choose Split. This will give an orthographic and isometric set of drawings
