| This tutorial
will explain how to create quick 2D drawings from a 3D design using
templates. It will also explain how to add simple dimensions and text
to the drawing. In order to do this tutorial you must download and
save simple.des. |
- In Pro/D
open simple.des
- Tools>New
Drawing
- Select the
template in the upper right hand corner. (A2 size with three views
in First Angle Projection)
- Use the exsisting
design for the drawing
- Make sure
simple.des is selected

- To add a
simple linear dimension use the linear dimension tool
- Select the
left side of the simple object on the plan view, then click and
drag from the right side to create leader lines and the dimension.
- Use the select
annotation tool

- Double Click
the actual dimension. This will pop up the properties for that
dimension annotation. You can change the units under the number
tab and the size of the annotation under the text tab.
- Set the units
to inches and make the text .25 inches in height.
- You can also
use the select annotation tool
to move the dimension around. Just click-n-drag.

- Use the Raidal
Dimension tool
to
dimension the hole and the round.
- Use the diametric
dimension tool
as another way of dimensioning the hole.
- Use the Angular
dimension tool
to
dimension the angle on the chamfer.
- Use the select
annotation tool
to
change the units to inches and the text height to .25 inches.

- You can add
notes attached to things by using the Note Tool
- Remember,
you can double click anything with the select annotations tool
to change its properties.
- You can also
click-n-drag things with the annotation tool.

- Zoom in on
the title block in the lower right hand corner
- View>Zoom>Box
in the title block
- Add a title
by using the text tool

- Shift-Click
in the title area to create a note that does not have a leader
line.
