Custom Materials in the Photo Album

This tutorial will cover how to add custom materials to the Pro/D photo album You must complete the built in Basic Imaging Tutorial prior to doing this tutorial.

Believe it or not, the Pro/D documentation staff did a great job on this tutorial. From Pro/D, try help>tutorials>Basic Imaging Tutorials

Adding Custom Materials to the Photo album is VERY VERY easy.

All you have to do is save a windows bitmap file (bmp) to PTC/ProDesktop2000i2/Programs/bitmaps

A bitmap file is just a windows graphic file. The bmp file can be any pixel size as Pro/D applies rendering covers much the same way as windows blocks together backgrounds. (matter of fact, I'll bet its done the same way)

You can get custom bitmap files off numerous websites that store background files for windows. Below are just some images the ProDesktop.net staff got from the Background Archives website

To use the below images:

  • Right Click the image, choose save as
  • Change the file type to bmp
  • Save the file in the Program Files/PTC/ProDesktop2000i2/Programs/bitmaps directory

The new materials will show up under the Custom Material option
